French doors are a dedicated hardware operation for the US market. They are used for both – single leaf and double leaf, outward opening and inward opening doors.

The use of a movable mullion in double-leaf doors allows both sashes to be opened together with the mullion, which creates a large passage light for us. The passive sash is also operated with a handle, rather than angle-bolts as in the case of solutions used on the European market.

Door operation with handles is characterized by a slightly different technique. When the handle is pressed, it returns to its original position allowing the sash to be opened, while lifting it (here it also returns to its original position), causes the additional sash locking tongue to be extended and the locking rollers in the frame strikers on the espagnolette side and on the horizontal sections of the sash – top and bottom (two points each), where we get the sash sealed to the frame and raise the number of locking points. Raising the handle opens the possibility for us to turn the door through the cylinders used in the door.

In Bertrand we can create French doors in any PVC and wood system (in the future in aluminium).
