In our regular #PeopleofBertrand series, meet Rafał, our well-known and beloved Team Leader of the Object Sales Department.

How did you come to work at Bertrand?

Actually, it was by accident. It was 2018. I knew as much about windows as they open, close, and sometimes get cleaned. I had two job offers at the time. One from Bertrand’s service, the other from an office in Gdańsk. The second one seemed better, so I called the BB service first, where I politely informed the ladies that I was withdrawing. Later, I called the office in Gdańsk to ask when we could meet. I was told they’d call back. So, I waited for the call until suddenly an unknown number rang. It was Anna Koszałka, Sales Director at Bertrand. She said she had a different proposition for me and asked if I would like to talk. I replied: “We can always talk.” And that’s how it started.

What were those beginnings like?

I started as a junior estimator. I liked the subject matter itself, my technical mind found its place in the topic of windows and doors. Today, after almost six years, I serve as the Team Leader of the Object Sales Department. It’s interesting too because when I became one, I was the youngest – both in terms of experience and age. But I’m very grateful for the trust from Ms. Anna.

What does your job entail? If you could describe it in a few words.

There’s quite a bit to it: coordinating the work of the estimator team, providing substantive support in the valuation and preparation of orders, coordinating production orders in circulation, as well as collaborating with the Installation Department.

What do you like about your job?

What I’ve always valued in the company from the very beginning is the wonderful atmosphere. We have a really great, cohesive team, in every aspect. What else is Bertrand’s strength? I think I’m an example of how even if you come to our company from “the street,” but you’re hardworking and committed from the start, it will be appreciated and noticed. That was the case for me.

Alright, then. What are you like privately? What do you like to do?

I’m a huge music enthusiast. I love concerts, festivals, I can’t wait for the next edition of the Mystic Festival. I also have my band adventures; I’ve been playing in various bands for many years. At the turn of autumn and winter 2022, together with a friend, we started a band. There’s a cool story with the band too. We were looking for a vocalist. And somehow, it turned out that my colleague from work, Sandra, handles vocals pretty well. She jokes that if I didn’t smoke cigarettes, I would never have found out about it. We’re slowly getting started, we’ve gathered a full lineup, named ourselves Aloes, played our first concert, and now we’re working on an album.
