Unusual and innovative projects are the domain of the Bertrand brand, that results from over fifty years of experience in the business. The door that decorates the entrance to the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary in Luzino is such a project. Anyone who has seen them must admit that they make a huge impression. This masterpiece is the merit of the employees of our company and the vision of the designer Dawid Kulon. It was in his head that the project was first created, and then the door, which today is the real pride of the residents.
How did such a door come about at all? – The idea was born in designer’s head, the one who was initially responsible for this project. The Parish already had an idea of what they expected. However, the initial design was a few schematic lines, because the person initially involved in this process focused only on the arrangement and aesthetics – says Dawid, who somehow “picked up the baton”.
What was next? – I started to analyze and convert the project. The drawing of the rosary that decorates the door and the stained glass window was taken from the previously mentioned architect’s design, because I was converting his design into a structure that could be folded and fixed. The main problem with this weight was the hinges, because one leaf weighed about 235 kilograms. One leaf!
The company SIMONSWERK GmbH, cooperating with us, came with solution to this problem. – The hinge, which is adapted to the maximum weight, could be made in a variant with a thicker amount of steel. We went right into it. Currently, one leaf is suspended on five hinges. All this in order to maintain the mentioned weight of the structure – explains our colleague.
Interestingly, the principals did not interfere with his work. – I drew the whole project and gave it for the acceptance. They liked it. I heard: “Make it right”. So I made the main door and using the same pattern I created several others doors that were in the church.
The project lasted for over a year.When did Dawid see his work for the first time? – Actually, the first time was on the computer, in Autocad. I had to imagine them live. I need to have the mind to imagine the result of my work before it is created – says our colleague. – I remember that when we put the door in the hall, it made a great impression on the employees present on that day. In the project, great credit should be given to our carpenters, technologist Mariusz, because their knowledge and suggestions that they gave me, for example, how wide the elements should be or how to fasten them, were really priceless. They are true professionals who have spent many hours in the business, and their gained experience has paid off.
In Luzino, everyone knows who designed this masterpiece. The small town still admires the work of the Bertrand company. – When we were cleaning the church, people pointed at me with their fingers that I was the one who designed this beautiful door. In a small town, news travels at the speed of light. I feel pride, but I get much more satisfaction from being convinced that I have done a good job than from being praised for it. I have to like it first. And I know if I like it, so will people.
