Imagine a home where the boundary between the interior and the garden practically disappears. Where morning coffee tastes better thanks to sunlight streaming in from the very first hours of the day, and the evening glow turns the living room into a warm, welcoming retreat — all made possible through thoughtfully designed large glazing that floods the interior with natural light.

This vision became reality in one of Bertrand’s latest projects in Gdynia, located in the heart of the Tri-City area, where expansive glass surfaces redefine the relationship between architecture and its surroundings.

Large glazing in our project

It is a project where natural light plays the leading role. Thanks to spectacular glazing reaching nearly 8 meters in width, the space has become more than just walls and floors — it has become an experience.

Exceptional residential project in Gdynia, where design serving huge comfort

At first glance, this modern home in Gdynia impresses with its minimalist architecture and clean geometry. However, what truly draws attention are the expansive glass panels and bold black window frames that define the building’s character while maximizing daylight penetration.

This effect was achieved using advanced aluminium systems by Aluprof:

  • MB-79N SI – an energy-efficient window and door system,

  • MB-77HS HI with a slim central mullion – ideal for large-format sliding glazing,

  • MB-SR50N HI+ – a high-performance façade system with enhanced thermal insulation.

The result is a living space that not only looks impressive but also performs exceptionally well — both in terms of user comfort and technical parameters such as thermal insulation and structural stability.

“No Compromises. Only lightness and functionality.”

To better understand the reasoning behind the design choices, we spoke with Robert, our Premium Client Advisor with over 15 years of experience at Bertrand.

“With glazing of this size, using another technology would have required additional divisions that would disrupt the visual effect. The Client wanted maximum lightness — plenty of daylight and a sense of open space without the visual heaviness of the structure.”

Aluminium proved to be the perfect solution. It allows for slim profiles while maintaining high load-bearing capacity and structural integrity.

“Aluminium makes it possible to achieve slender frames while preserving the required static performance. In this case, it was both the Client’s conscious choice and the natural response to the project’s structural demands.” – explain, Robert Zwara, our Project Manager.

A technically demanding Project — integrating HST with a façade

Behind every “wow effect” lies precise engineering. What may appear effortless to the homeowner often requires extensive calculations and detailed structural analysis.

In this project, the biggest challenge was integrating the lift-and-slide HST system with the façade construction. The structural opening spanned 7.5 meters, and the sliding unit was mounted entirely outside the structural outline of the building.

“After detailed structural calculations, it turned out that the originally prepared substructure was insufficient. We had to design and implement additional reinforcement. Although this required extra work on the Client’s side, safety and long-term durability are absolute priorities with glazing of this scale.” – says Robert.

The key challenge was ensuring a seamless connection between the sliding system and the façade — both structurally and visually.

Minimalism with purpose

This is not a project designed merely for photographs. Every decision — from material selection and proportions to finishing details — was made to meet real functional needs:

  • increased natural daylight,

  • enhanced perception of space,

  • smooth operation and safety,

  • uncompromising modern aesthetics.

“The intended effect of lightness and raw, contemporary design has been fully achieved. Despite its dimensions, the structure does not dominate visually. The profiles are slim, the lines are clean and sharp, and the overall composition aligns perfectly with the building’s minimalist character.”

The result is a home that not only looks spectacular but also functions exactly as planned.

What did the client gain?

As a result of this collaboration, the Client gained a living space that:

  • visually enlarges the interior through expansive glazing,
  • maintains high thermal and performance standards,
  •  combines modern design with everyday functionality,
  • mensures durability and comfort for years to come.

This is precisely what was expected — and precisely what was delivered.

Conclusion – Large Glazing Without Compromise

This residential project in Gdynia proves that spectacular aesthetics and outstanding technical performance can go hand in hand. It also demonstrates the importance of an individual approach, engineering precision, and close cooperation with the investor from concept to completion.

With ambitious architectural goals, minimalist form and lightweight glazing are not just elegant solutions — they are functional ones.

And that is what truly distinguishes a good design from an exceptional realisation.
